A 27-year old man has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of three elderly men who were found at two separate addresses in Exeter. 84-year old twins Dick and Roger Carter were found at 1pm on Tuesday, whilst an 80-year old was found at 3pm on Monday.
Detectives don’t think that the twins and the other fatality knew each other, but that they are linking the deaths due to the “significant levels of injuries”. The two houses are roughly a mile and a half apart.
Superintendent Matt Lawler confirmed the arrest of a man who is currently being held on suspicion of murder by Devon and Cornwall police. Lawler also asked for potential witnesses to come forward.
“While a man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in relation to these incidents, we must keep an open mind and avoid speculation as we are still in the very early stages of what is already a complex investigation.
“We have therefore issued an appeal for information from the public and for any potential witnesses who were in either area during specific times. It is vital that anyone who has any information shares with us it as soon as possible.”
Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting log 472 11 February.
