Leeds v Derby County – Manager’s Thoughts

Marcelo Bielsa has said that Leeds need to beat Derby on Friday, and has downplayed the problems that his team have had.

“We need to win the game because the last two Championship games, because we are playing always against a team who is going up and they are play with a style and if we can win against them and take into account the style they are using to play it will be a very positive for us.

“The problems that the teams has are not an excuse to try not to win the game. If you have a look, [Barry] Douglas and Pablo [Hernandez] are missing and we can find a solution for both positions.

Lampard has said that he is looking forward to a tough match against Leeds, and said it would be “great” if they can get some points from the game.

“I’m looking forward to it. It’s a tough match. They played very well and beat us at Pride Park. But I feel we’ve improved a lot since then. They have done very well and the league table doesn’t lie.

“It’s a big test for us but we need to believe in ourselves. If we can claw back some points on the likes of Leeds, then great.

“We know what a good team they are and we are not really thinking about form (Leeds have lost three in a row). If we bring our best game, we can give anyone a good game in this league.”

Leeds v Derby County – Prediction

by Managing Editor, Joel Orme

Leeds are on a bad run of form, but are still top of the league. Injuries and suspensions won’t help them, and I can’t see them returning to winning ways just yet.

Derby have a full squad to pick from, and should be considered a quality chance to pick up three points in what will be a scrappy affair.
