Liverpool go top of the Premier League with a 4-0 masterclass over Newcastle as Man City lose for the second week in a row. There were also wins for Tottenham, Everton and Manchester United.
A strike from Dejan Lovren put Liverpool a goal ahead against a poor Newcastle outfit. Mohamed Salah then went down in the box, and duly converted the penalty. Xherdan Shaqiri and Fabinho finished the scoring.
Liverpool always looked in control of the game as Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle side looked poor throughout. The first goal coming from a mistake by Jamal Lascelles, and poor final balls meant no luck up front.
Ricardo Pereira scored in the 81st minute to give Leicester the win against Man City, with Fabian Delph getting a straight red card in the 89th minute for a bad challenge.
Sergio Aguero had put Man City ahead in the 14th minute after some poor defending from Leicester. But Marc Albrighton headed in a Jamie Vardy cross just five minutes later to peg them back.
City had chances to score again but Pep Guardiola’s team couldn’t provide a finishing touch and Leicester took full advantage.
